Rzeszow University of Technology participates in the work on the Skills Pact in the field of aerospace and defense

On October 16, 2020, Rzeszow University of Technology participated in the high-level round table on the Pact for Skills with the aerospace and defense manufacturing sector at the invitation of Commissioners Thierry Breton and Nicolas Schmit. This round table was the third in a series of sector round tables. The Pact was announced under the European Skills Agenda adopted by the Commission on July 1, 2020. The initiative is linked to the ASSETs + project (https://assets-plus.eu/). The purpose of the pact is to provide a framework to mobilize all stakeholders, including industrial, social and educational partners, to help develop skills for a sustainable recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. Partnerships established under the Pact will benefit from Commission support, such as the Partnership Platform and advice on EU funding options. The aerospace and defense sector has been identified as an important industrial ecosystem that should be dealt with under the Pact due to the severe consequences of the pandemic affecting the sector and the strong involvement of industrial players. Up-skilling (upgrading existing skills) and re-skilling (training for new skills) are important drivers for recovery from a pandemic and long-term restructuring of the sector. The presence of the Rzeszow University of Technology, which is a member of the Aviation Valley, is indispensable in building the Pact. The meeting showed a strong and positive commitment to the development of cooperation of both the most important players from the industrial sector and associations supporting the functioning of the sector.
